In April 2008, The School House proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary as Rocheport's historic, luxury bed and breakfast Inn.
The School House Bed + Breakfast, circa 1914, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The bed + breakfast was once a 4-room school for grades one through twelve for the river village of historic Rocheport, Missouri. The elementary level used the school building until 1972, when the Rocheport school district merged with the New Franklin Rural Consolidated School District in the town of New Franklin, approximately 10 miles northwest of Rocheport. The previous owners purchased the building in 1986 and after 15 months of extensive renovation, opened the School House Bed + Breakfast in April 1988 as the first bed and breakfast in Rocheport and one of the first in Missouri at that time.
Over the past 20 years, the Inn has grown along with the town of Rocheport as a premier destination along the the Katy Trail. Starting with 6 guest rooms, the Inn has expanded over the last 20 years to its current 10 luxury guests rooms, all with private baths and four with two-person jetted tubs. A new conference room and kitchen facility, the Faculty Lounge, was created in the walkout basement level to provide private meeting space for corporate retreat groups and a bridal changing room for the many Blufftop weddings at the Les Bourgeois Vineyards, just one mile from the School House.
A separate Dormitory building, located next to the Inn, was built in 2007 with 2 guest rooms providing more basic lodging for families and Katy Trail cyclists.
Mike and Lisa Friedemann moved from Tulsa, OK to purchase the School House in late 2002 and serve both as owners and innkeepers of the B + B today.
