Common Questions

Q: Is breakfast included in the room rate?

Yes – "Breakfast" is half our name, and a full, hot, liesurely breakfast for each School House B + B Inn guest is served in the Common Room at 9am or earlier by advance request. (School House Dormitory guests have a stocked fridge for their self-serve breakfast). Our Inn breakfast typically consists of juice, fresh breads such as muffins or scones; a fresh fruit salad or baked fruit compote; and a hot entrée (see the Recipes section of our website for typical menu items) with a breakfast meat served on the side, such as Maple Glazed Sausage, Ham, or Bacon.  Self-serve coffee and tea is available by 7 am at both the first and second floor beverage stations. If you have special dietary needs, please advise at the time of booking and we’ll do our best to meet them.

Q: Do all rooms have private baths?

Yes. Every room in the School House B + B Inn and Dormitory has a private bath with toilet and sink and either a shower, tub/shower combo or clawfoot tub. In addition, our four premium rooms also have a two-person jetted tub. Here is a list of the rooms by type of bathing facility:

Q: Do you have a place to store our bikes?

Yes. The Bike Shed is a locking building connected by sidewalks to the School House B + B Inn and the School House Dormitory. The Bike Shed can accommodate approximately a dozen standard bikes, and has compressed air and a small workbench available for bike repairs; cleaning supplies are provided there, too. There is also a bike rack on the east side of the Inn building for day or overnight parking. Bicycles are not allowed inside the Inn or Dormitory buildings.

Q: Do you have guest laundry facilities?

Yes.  There is a self-serve washer and dryer (laundry detergent also provided) located in our new Dormitory building for guests staying in eiher the Inn or the Dormitory.  Just ask us for the building key code.

Q: Why does Inn check-in start at 4 pm with check-out by 11 am?

The School House B + B Inn has 12 guest rooms. The time between 11 am check out and 4 pm check in is 5 hours, which we have found is the minimum time necessary to clean approximately 9000 square feet (including 12 bathrooms) and complete the laundry for 19 beds and 31 sets of towels. Kids, don’t try this at home! If you get to town before 4, there are many shops and restaurants in Rocheport to enjoy prior to check-in. Guests staying in the separate School House Dormitory have self-check in available any time after 2:30 pm.

Q: Why are only children over age 10 allowed to stay at the Inn?

The overwhelming majority of our guests are adults, most of whom are seeking a quiet respite from their children. The School House B + B Inn building has age restrictions for its guests (no children, including infants, under the age of 10 years) in an effort to respect that sanctuary. Since it is in a separate building, the School House Dormitory has no guest age restriction – all children are welcome there.
